Lumote’s First Day Out

One thing devs are always worried about is showing their games to the world while still in the development cycle. You’re always afraid it’s too soon, and that first impression can really make or break the reputation of a game. Well, last week team Luminawesome threw caution to the wind and went to Full Indie Meetup Vancouver. We showed our game for the first time to people who aren’t bound to tell us nice things due to familial ties and it went great!

Leaps of Faith

“Leaps of Faith” is something we are constantly thinking about for ‪Lumote‬, as the world is so dark and everything is the “void”. How do we as designers give players enough info so that they can plan out what to do, but not so much that it takes away from the darkness of the world? Here’s an interesting Gamasutra article that talks about how other games are tackling similar problems.

Full Indie Meetup Vancouver [04.27.16]

We’ll be attending the Full Indie Meetup tonight at The Butcher & Bullock (911 W Pender St, Vancouver BC). Make sure to come by and find us, so you can try playing ‪#‎Lumote‬ and get a taste of what it’s all about!   /wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Lumote-2016_04_27-11_12_45.mp4

Meet the Team!

Luminawesome isn’t just made up of really terrific gamers, there’s actually a few other hidden talents on the team. Did you know we have a trained bistro line cook, a professional violinist, an electronic music DJ and someone who keeps a collection of personal oil paintings stashed in a basement?! 🙂

Origins of Luminawesome

The word ‘luminawesome‘ isn’t in the dictionary, so are you curious to know how the word originated? Founders, Kyle and Michelle, were out on a nature walk one day discussing how they were fascinated by things that lit up. Soon they started brainstorming on names that would be fitting for a gaming studio, and initially came up with ‘phosphorawesome‘ and ‘bioluminawesome‘. When starting up the company became a reality, they decided to include all things that lit up, not just phosphorus things…so the name was eventually adapted to become ‘luminawesome‘.
